Last updated October 22, 2026

You can delete your BarWave account and its data yourself, at any time, from inside the app. Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone.

How to delete your account in the app

  1. Open BarWave and sign in.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Tap the Settings (gear) icon.
  4. Scroll to Danger Zone and tap Delete Account.
  5. Confirm Delete Account. You are signed out when it finishes.

Can’t sign in any more? Email support@barwave.app from the email address on your account, or tell us the phone number you signed up with. We will confirm the request and delete the account within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: name, username, photo, bio, birthday and social links
  • Your profile photos
  • All your check-ins and your check-in history
  • All your posts (“Waves”), their photos and videos, and every reply on them
  • Your replies and likes on other people’s posts and replies
  • Events you created, with their cover photos and everyone’s RSVPs, and your RSVPs to other events
  • Your one-to-one chats, for both people: every message, photo, video and voice message in them
  • In group chats: every message, photo, video and voice message you sent. You leave the group, and replies that quoted you show “Deleted user” instead of your name and words. A group where you were the last member is deleted.
  • Your friends list, friendships and friend requests
  • Your notifications, the notifications other people got for your messages, and the record of check-ins you shared
  • Your contact-matching data, so friends can no longer find you by phone number
  • Your push-notification token and private settings
  • Your activity records
  • Your favorites, and your entries in other users’ block lists
  • Your sign-in account (phone, Apple or Google)

What is not deleted

  • Reports you filed or that were filed about you, which we keep as moderation records.
  • Your account’s ID number inside emoji reactions and @mentions on other people’s group messages. It no longer links to any account or name.
  • Notifications already delivered to other people’s devices, and our record of notifications for your reactions and @mentions.
  • Bar submissions sent through this website, which are not linked to your account.
  • Analytics and crash data held by Google Firebase, which expire on their own after the retention period set in Firebase.
  • Information we must keep to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

To ask us to delete any of these too, email support@barwave.app. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
